-EDIT-
This place is terrific. I have been coming here for 7 years and recommend them highly. They do excellent work quickly and reasonably.
If I could choose one place on Google Maps to give more than five stars to, it would be Dixon's. It's family-owned, non-pretentious, and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Their labor prices are cheaper than most bike stores in Brooklyn as well, and they are honest- no trying to sell you on things you don't need under the pretense of your safety. I've walked my bike to Park Slope just so I could get a tube from them instead of those price-gougers on Coney Island avenue. Go to Dixon's.
Old school family run shop. They just don't make places like this. A pair of hometown brothers run the shop with their mom and dad. Dave and Chris are about as nice as human beings get. The pricing is fair and the service is true Brooklyn family style. These guys just understand relationships and values. Don't go anywhere else to buy, fix or just find info on bikes.
These guys are professionals, they clearly have a passion for what they do, and they are excellent at it. I will never visit another bike shop as long as I'm in Brooklyn.
Dave what happened with your spot across the street? I thought you was a man of your word? That's how y'all roll in your island? Puerto Ricans would have not done you like that Papa! All good my man, wish you the best.
The repair took a week longer than he promised and I kid you not, all he did was de-rust the chain. I gritted my teeth through it thinking this was life till I went to another shop and found out everything needed fixing and I literally paid $80 for de-rusting. Never again.
I had a good experience here the first time I came here to get some supplies. It changed when I had to get my bike fixed, the tires and wheels needed to be replaced as well as the derailer and chain. I was offered a $80 flat rate to fix it all.
I just spent the last week with these guys trying to identify an issue I was having with my bike. First visit- they replaced my back tire with kevlar, took apart my bottom bracked and repacked it, and cleaned my chain. $45. Didn't fix the problem. Second visit, they replaced the chain and the rear cog. $20. Honestly, you can't get parts that cheap if you're paying retail- the new back tire alone would cost more than the total $65 I spent, plus the labor to install it..
