We went here on a whim because we had a couple of hours to kill. It was well worth the cost of admission! We were both pleasantly surprised by the informative and interesting displays. Very cool concept and the included tasting was educational and delicious.
This place was amazing. We were there for a special event.
It's quite small but an interesting visit. I scored it 3 to lower expectations but I have no regrets in going.
I would give this place 3.5 stars. I came here to check out the Chow: Making the Chinese American Restaurant exhibit. Being Chinese American myself, I was interested in the history of Chinese American food culture. The exhibit was much smaller than I expected but I did learn a lot about the history and science of Chinese food in America. You learn about the sauces and dishes that almost every Chinese restaurant serves. I appreciated the collection of old menus and the diagrams of the wok station and the types of sauces. I wish the exhibit was larger and more comprehensive though. However, if you're interested in food science and culture, this museum is worth checking out.
Disappointing. The place is quite small, and the exhibition displays mostly pannels with written labels, not many objects to see. The staff is super nice though, and they have a lovely store of objects, souvenirs and books.
